Murano looks similar to Venice but much quieter. Charming architecture, canals, and bridges make it a relaxing place to stroll. Murano is a great living example of the central role that family and traditions play in a community and history. The history of glassblowing dates back to the Middle Ages and it is brought to us by masters whose fathers and grandfathers have been in this craft. Generations of glass-makers apprenticed their sons and daughters to make sure this precious art survived. Your children imagination run wild as they see artisans creating intricate handcrafted pieces.

Venice islands family day trip proceeds to Burano. This tiny island resembles a Venice in miniature. Stroll along Burano’s vibrant waterways and hidden courtyards. Burano is a picturesque fishing village with a dazzling array of candy colored small houses. Each house has different colors. Legend has it that the fishermen used this to their advantage as the colors helped them navigate their way home through the fog. Burano lace tradition dates back to 1500 but today you can still see old ladies that hand-made lace. Burano is also home to a bell tower that over the years has started to lean. It may not be the Leaning Tower of Pisa but children will enjoy catching a glimpse of this unique bell tower.

Note to parents with small children: Although Venice is a wonderful place to visit it is not the most stroller friendly place. This beautiful city has the singular characteristic of being built on water and consequently there are no cars, lots of bridges, and lots of sidewalks along the canals. While there are many positive aspects of being in a city with no cars, it is not easy to get around with strollers as everything is cobblestone and you need to go up and down bridges constantly. Taking a child in a stroller will involve a significant amount of lugging the stroller up and then going down, over each bridge. Consider putting young children in a backpack carrier whenever possible.

When you contact our family vacation consultants let us know as much about your children interests in order to make the experience as interesting as possible for them.

Those traveling between November and March may wish to bring rubber boots in preparation for Venice’s acqua alta (high water).

TESTIMONIALS

  • Under the Tuscan Sun Tour

    Hello,
We had a wonderful tour of Tuscany, and it was the perfect break from a busy holiday in Rome. Our driver, Andreas, was punctual, friendly, very knowledgeable, and a safe driver. The tour of the first winery was excellent. We especially liked the cheese house and tasting in the store. The tour of the 2nd winery was not as good as the first one; however, the wine was much better. Our stop in the town of Manciano was the perfect break in the day and the restaurant Andreas recommended for lunch provided some of the best food we had during our entire vacation in Italy.
In regards to your other specific questions, the answers are as follows:
    – Our experience with Nancy Aiello Tours was professional and well organized from start to finish.
    – Yes, we would recommend Nancy Aiello Tours to our family and friends.
    – We found Nancy Aiello Tours searching on-line for wine tours from Rome.
Thank you again and have a good day.

Thank you for an amazing experience. We are going to be heading back to milan tomorrow. But thanks a lot. We loved meeting Luciana and Elisabetta – so next year we will want to do the same again, plus make sure all our friends in Asia know about your wonderful service.
Please pass on email on to Luciana, our guide in Rome as we would love to stay in touch with her, especially as she comes to Asia often and we would love to see her when she comes to Asia especially China.
