Meet your personal local guide at the evocative World Heritage site of Pompeii. Enjoy a guided tour of this amazing archaeological area. Walk along ancient cobbled streets just as the ancient Romans did. Tour Pompeii haunting ruins buried by volcanic ash. Almost 2000 years ago a massive volcanic eruption destroyed the Roman city of Pompeii. Millions of tons of lava instantly petrified the bodies of its inhabitants. This natural preservation provides a fascinating and intimate look into the life in ancient times. Today two-thirds of the city has been excavated and the ruins of a flourishing civilization have been brought to life again. Because of the airtight conditions beneath the lava Pompeii is the most well preserved ancient city in the world with streets and buildings that provide detailed information of the former living conditions, trade, commerce and art of the Roman Empire. Experience first-hand an exciting archaeological journey into Roman life. Learn about life in ancient Rome, how the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius created this amazing city frozen in time and about the ongoing archaeological work.

Say good bye to your Pompeii tour guide. Travel towards the volcano Vesuvius. Your exploration of Mt. Vesuvius begins with the slow trip up the windy road up the hill until the parking lot to the crater. When you reach a level of about 3000 feet above Sea level you come to the end of the road. You must leave the vehicle behind here and take an approx. 30 minute upward hike of moderate difficulty to the craters edge which reaches approximately 3800 feet above Sea level and another 25 minute back down. Peering down into the depths of the crater you may see plumes of steam issuing from the sleeping but still very active volcano. From the summit the panoramic views over the picturesque Bay of Naples and fresh air are well worth the effort. At the end of your private guided Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius day tour return to Sorrento port of call in time to board your cruise ship. Contact us for an Exclusive Pompeii Volcano Day Tour experience.
